HISTORY OF KNOX ZION PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CARBERRY

ABOUT KNOX ZION PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CARBERRY, MANITOBA CANADA
The congregation of Knox-Zion Presbyterian Church in Carberry, Manitoba, was formed in 1985 from the amalgamation of Knox Presbyterian Church, Carberry and Zion Presbyterian Church, Wellwood.
Knox Presbyterian Church dates from 1881 when The Rev. Donald McConnell was inducted into the charge. For several years prior to this, however, settlers in the area met for worship in the homes of a few of the parishioners. A new church building for Knox was constructed in 1910.
Zion Presbyterian Church in Wellwood dates from approximately the same time, also being served by Rev. McConnel, until 1884 when it called The Rev. T.C. Court. Rev. Court ministered to the Wellwood congregation and surrounding areas of Petrel, Oberon and Brookdale.
A church building was constructed in 1897 and was moved to a new location in 1904. In 1925, both Knox, Carberry and Zion, Wellwood voted to remain within The Presbyterian Church in Canada.
